3. Distillation

A small group of learning historians (internal and external members) "distils" the raw material into a coherent set of themes, with relevance to those seeking to learn from the effort. Different techniques of qualitative data analysis and of development of grounded theory can be used. Themes and patterns are emerging in this process. Sensitizing concepts, thick descriptions, quotes, Causal Loop Diagrams, pictures, typical events and so on, are selected as building blocks to compose the learning history.
